Our Education Team

It's sad that some birds will never be released. Age or reliance on humans means that some birds lose the skills to survive in the wild. When recovered, these birds become part of our Education Team. F4F guarantees that our rescue birds are not displayed, as their rehab would be impossible if they became used to humans.

Bruiser

Bruiser is a friendly barking owl (Ninox connivens) from the Townsville region. Barking owls get their name from their "wuf wuf" call and are known to wink!

Ford

Ford is a brown falcon (Falco berigora) from Western Australia. She is a spectacular huntress. Brown falcons are surprisingly effective snake-catchers.

Hoot

Hoot is boobook owl (Ninox novaeseelandiae) and is a member of the smallest owl species in Australia. What he lacks in size he makes up for in his big personality!

Lady Hawk

Lady Hawk is a Pacific Baza, also known as a crested hawk or the Pacific cuckoo-falcon (Aviceda subcristata) These birds are aerial acrobats!

Luna

Luna is an enigmatic barn owl (Tyto alba). He is a cool, calm and collected owl and has made a long journey to Queensland - he's originally from Western Australia.

Rev

Rev is a nankeen kestrel (Falco cenchroides) and is one of the smallest birds of prey in the Townsville region. Rev has been with F4F since the beginning and was Deb's first rescued raptor.

Education and Appearances

Our education birds are ready and willing to be out among the public. They are very comfortable around humans and would make a terrific addition to your conference, wedding, birthday or other special event.
